I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 16th. instant respecting
the case of the fugitive offender Vicente Sotto, and to
state that he concurs in Mr. Secretary Harcourt's proposal
to inform the Governor of Hongkong in the sense of the
Home Office letter of April 7th, a copy of which was therein
inclosed.
I am at the same time to enquire whether Mr. Harcourt
sees any objection to the United States Chargé d'Affaires
being informed of the views of His Majesty's Government and
of the action taken in the matter.
